I have a cake order this weekend and she just decided she wants whipped cream frosting... well I have only done one cake that way before.
Does it take color well and pipe well?
Does anyone have a good recipe for it, preferrably one I don't have to refrigerate if possible?

I have heard a lot of good things about the whipped cream buttercream recipe on this site. I haven't tried it yet but it is my list of things to try. I don't think it needs to go in the fridge. You could probebly do basic decorations like borders I don't know if you can do flowers with it. Sorry maybe someone else can be more help.

I made it and it is really good so light and fluffy, It is soft but the directions tell you to add meringue powder to it to help it crust . It doesnt crust real hard but enough I viva paper towel it. I also piped roses with it and they turned out nice.HTH Jackie icon_smile.gif

There ought to be a law against changing an order! I hope this works out for you--I have no wisdom. The only whipped cream frostings I have done have had "stuff" in them. They were very good--but couldn't decorate with them.

Good luck with the order!

Yes, the whipped cream buttercream on this site is good...light and not all too sweet. I used it for basketweave and worked perfect. Hope it works for you too.

I used this icing on my chalkboard cake. Look in my photos. It takes color just fine and you can do all sorts of things with it. It is so light and fluffy.

Click on recipes and go to the frostings listed on the right bottom of the page and go to page 6 it is the 6th recipe listed. I had no problem with it taking color it did just fine. icon_smile.gif

This is the best frosting. I did 2 cakes with it so far (in my photos). They came out great. It does take extra care to make roses expecially since i'm still a rookie at it but you can do anything with it. The blue cake with ruffles in my photos is all whipped cream buttercream. I did the cake as practice and sent it to my hubbys job and there was 1 guy that went on for days about how good it was. They loved that it was not very sweet, they said it was the perfect taste. The great thing is that it does not need to be refrigerated at all and its good for months. goodluck with your cake.
