I need to make a couple dozen cookies for my daughters school. They are raising money for the rain forest, so I thought I would make cookies related to that. Does anyone have any ideas to share? Thanks

I would suggest inhabitants of the rain forest. I did a quick search on-line and these are some examples:

orchids, ferns and palm trees
parrots, jaquars leopards, snakes, frogs, monkeys, butterflies.

Of course there are also a lot of insects but, those probably wouldn't make for appetizing cookies. icon_confused.gificon_lol.gif

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Well I guess cookies in the shape of bulldozers and trucks are probably out of the question as well as the centers of tree trunks, lol.

What a fun theme. Cookie cutters in the shape of trees, any kind of exotic creature like lizards, birds, and even insects would be appropriate.

Another theme would be to make rectangle cookies on sticks and make them into protest signs with different sayings on them.

That's all I have for now... Have fun!!!

I would avoid all the little breakable/burnable legs on those critters. How about making leaf or flower shaped cookies and add icing frogs & lizards & insects?

Why wouldn't tree sections make good cookies?

As far as the trucks and bulldozers, you can use those ideas as a background for a display, and the cookies as the animals and vegetation the kids are trying to save. That way the message really comes across.

And an FYI - there is rainforest that needs saving right here in the USA, around Washington State. What was once protected land has gone the way of the corporate deal. Animals, wolves, bears, etc, are being displaced right here.

I do not know what the situation is in the rainforests of Africa, but I am guessing it is the same. Perhaps a global map, highlighting these areas, would make a more appropriate background.

My commendations to the kids for bringing attention to this tragedy. I wish them luck with their efforts.

Well it is sort of the thing they are trying to avoid, ie cutting down the trees, lol. I have a sick sense of humor, so I would do them and the bulldozers as a pun, but for children, the irony may be lost.

I want to thank you all for the help with my cookies. I especially want to thank Rodneyck for the sign idea. I was unable to order cookie cutters in time so I had to go with what I had. The school loved them and they were sold out right away. I bagged them up with the peace sign and the dragonfly on one side and then save the rainforest one back to back w/ them this way the cookie fronts would be scene on both sides. Here is a picture of the cookies.
