I'm in the market for vacuum cleaners. If you have one you love, let me hear about it.

I have a one bedroom apartment and live alone, so no need for a super duper sized vacuum. But I did buy one that I really like, Hoover Fold Away, doesn't require vacuum bags and is pretty powerfull for a small machine.

I have a Simplicity and love it, with 7 kids I run my vacuum everyday.

Before this one I had a Dyson and hated it, if you tried to pick up a cheerio or anything larger you would have to pick up the vacuum and put it on the cheerio to get the vacuum to stuck it up.

I kill vacuums at least once a year and I have tried many....I guess they don't like me so I'm hoping to put down wood floors soon !!! lol
My dad had one several years ago that I used for about two years, it was a Panasonic and was pretty good.

LOL, me too. I think the longest I've had a vacuum is just over a year, but that was before I had kids and I wasn't vacuuming everyday. I'm not even sure how many vacuums I've had in the last 10 years, I know I have had 4 this past year (2 are still working now) plus 2 little hand haled vacs.

We have the 12 amp Hoover Windtunnel Dual V bagless cannister vacuum. It's the best vacuum! We also have the Hoover Floormate - it rocks! If you have any amount of linoleum/tile/hardwood it is a must have!

My worst problem area in the home is carpeted stairs ... need a long hose if it's an upright ... and a hose that's easy to just pop off.

I look extensively at a dyson and didn't think I'd like it. I also heard that it just pushes anything that's thick (like a cheerio). Last time I had a vacuum repaired, the repairman told me the dyson's parts are very expensive.

i have a dyson and love it more than anything. i have a siberian husky that sheds everywhere all the time and the dyson sucks all that dog hair up no problem. and it is great on my stairs. i didn't have any problems picking up cheerios. i did learn the hard way though that you can't use any of those carpet powder things with it. i had to take it apart and clean it all out with canned air.

I bought 2 ORECK vacuums about 4 years ago. One for me and one for my aging Grandmother. They pick up great-you can go from carpet to hardwood or vinyl without changing anything. On hard floors it doesn't shoot stuff back at your feet like some do. They are also very light--thats why I bought one for Mom-mom, she's going to 80 this year and she absolutly loves it!!

I have a Rainbow with an extra large water resevoir. It has a water resevoir instead of a filter. It vacuums everthing and filters it through the water. I have asthma and it really cleans the dirt out of the floors and the air. It is a PIA to dump the water and I usually dump it twice for one complete vacuum of the house. It is also great for vacuuming up water from spills. I got it in 1990.
