I did this cake for a lady who orders quiet often from me. She gets a lot of cakes for her family and she is a wedding coordinator as well. She ordered this cake for a friend and it was last minute. I only charged $45 for it because of how often she orders from me and because this was my first time making gumpaste orchids. What do you think I should have charged for it? It is and 8" and 10" lemon flavor. No special fillings, iced in buttercream. I can't get it to load on here so it is in my gallery. It is the 30th anniversary one.

Here's a multi-linked pricing thread:

Just skip past the cake serving size info....

I would have charged more than $45. How many people does it serve and times that by how much you sell your servings by and you have it. I would have at the least sold that cake of $70. Maybe more.

I probably would have charged about $60 for it but I think if she brings you lots of business and she is a wedding coordinator as well, you can't go wrong by charging her less as good will. A few more orders and you can more than make up for it. Plus, you got to practice making gumpaste orchids and you found out you are quite good at it! Next time you can confidently add more just for those thumbs_up.gif

Keep up the good work!

P.S. I hope you made sure she knew she got a steep discounted price because of all the business she does with you. icon_lol.gif

When she came to pick the cake up I told her that if anyone asked her, to say that she paid $65 for it instead of $45. She was extremely happy with it and amazed at the gumpaste orchids on it. I know I will be getting more business from this cake.
