HI guys. I found this flower and would really like to use it on an upcoming wedding cake. I found it on the ground and haven't had a chance to take it to a florist yet. If anyone knows or has used this on a cake I'd be greatful to know the name.

I couldn't attatch it here, but I put it in my photos.
Thanks so much.

Definately a franapani.

You can use a rose petal cutter to cut to size, they do NOT have a stamen in the middle of them, and I love making them!!!

That is a yellow plumeria. They grow on a tree and smell very good. Be careful with these, as the liquid that comes out of the stem is poisonous!. My hubby and I lived in the island of Kaua'i in Hawaii for a few years and they were everywhere, they make beautiful lays and we would wear them in our hair. They come in shades of pink, white, yellow and although sort of rare, orange.

Plumeria was the first thing to come to my mind. I was in Hawaii in December and saw them there, and on jewelry etc. Agree with Keonicakes.

My guess would be the plumeria though. Although these flowers DO look identical!

That is my favorite flower!!! The first time I saw them was down in Aruba in 1990. I see them almost every year there now and can't wait. In fact, where we stay is a restaurant called Frangipani!!

Good to know, this could have been a trivia question. I gotta tell you though that I got a case of home sickness when I saw that flower. icon_cry.gif

A plumeria and a frangipani are one and the same flower. They are a tropical flower and the flower used to make leis. They are hardy to zone 10 only. The flower is typically 2 inches in size with 5 petals, very fragrant and waxy.

There were directions for these in one of the latest Wilton yearbooks. I want to say it was the 2005 or 2006 year book.

What a nice source for good information. Who knew that we'd have a botany lesson? Isn't it nice that we are all right?
