I might try to make a strawberry cake with the cake mix extender for a 3D pan. I'm wondering what would work best for not only holding together the structure of the cake, but to keep a strawberry flavored cake. Should I use a box of strawberry gelatin with the cake mix extender, or should i add a box of vanilla pudding to the strawberry cake with some strawberry flavoring in place of the vanilla extract?

I have used a recipe that called for adding strawberry gelatin to cake mix (not the WASC variation) and thought it was too sweet. (JMHO.)

I have no idea - just be carefull that its not too moist that the cake falls apart. I've never had one happen on a 3D cake yet, I just always worry! Good luck. Let us know what you did and how it turned out.

I use a recipe with strawberry gelatin and mashed strawberries. It's very moist and delicate.
I would go with the pudding for a 3D cake, I don't think the other one would hold up.

I like strawberry cake mix with cheese cake pudding. I'd probably do that and add in some strawberry flavor over the jello.

I would use sour cream and replace the water with strawberry nectar. I make this almost daily...everyone loves it!
