My SIL wants a 'pool party' cake for next month. I'm thinking 9x13 and maybe some fondant boys swimming. What else? Would that be to plain? I
I'm blanking out. Should I do the sheet cake or a bigger round? I'm not sure of the number of kids - probably 15 at the most.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
you know what i thought was a cute idea....one of the magazines had it .... I am trying to find it and know that someone out there is familar with it. It was a round cake covered in blue bc and it had an ice cream cone upside down on top of the cake and that was used as the top of the slide and they used teddy grahams with icing bathing suits. I am tryinf to find it and i will post again when i do
A tube of sunblock, anyone?
And don't forget the water wings and floats!

I made a swimming pool cake last year for my niece and nephew's birthday pool party (ages 9 and 11).
I used two half sheet cakes... one as the bottom layer. I cut a square in them middle of the second one and place it on top of the first. I made berry blue jello (in a separate bowl and let it firm up) and then scooped it out into the square hole on the cake. I decorated the top using sugar wafer cookies as walkways and chicklets for tiles . I used teddy grahams with royal bathing suits. Ladder was made out of pretzel sticks and air heads candy (long taffy strips) as the slide, peach ring candy were floatation rings, fruit stripe gum were towels.... gum balls were beach balls...
trying to remember what else I used...
anyway - It was a huge hit and the kids still talk about it.
