I just did my first atempt at a fondant bow using some left over Wilton fondant. What do I do to keep it from cracking?

I think your cake looks nice.

I haven't tried the bow yet, so can't help you there, but I have done the Viva method a couple of times. I haven't gotten in perfect yet, but when I have a little 'whole' that looked like an air bubble, I just push harder with the fondant smoother over that area. I got my dots cake real smooth that way.

Did the bow crack as you were making each loop or as it was drying? If the fondant is not pliable enough, it will crack. Try warming it in the microwave so it will bend and stretch easier. I have made bows with Wilton fondant (since no one eats the bow anyway, it doesn't matter how it tastes!) and cracking only occured while I was working with it when it wasn't very pliable. So I would just warm it, knead it and roll it out again. Once I left the loops alone to dry, no new cracks appeared.
Hope this helps.

Also, when you rolled out the fondant, do you use cornstarch or powdered sugar? That can also cause the fondant to dry out faster and crack. I like to use a very thin layer of shortening on my work surface and rolling pin.
