Hi, I just did my first FBCT and I am not sure what to do to better the outline. I tried using melted chocolate, but it seized when I tried to color it black--yuck! All I had was the BC, so I tinted that black and used it.

It smeared icon_sad.gif What should I use instead of BC? The tutorial on here says to use a store brand we don't have here, any suggestions??

Thanks!
Katherine

Well, I think that using the BC was just fine, but you will want to let it crust or pop it into the freezer before you go to fill it or it will do exactly what it did to you. FYI you can color candy melts, but you need to use an oil based or powdered coloring - it was the water that did you in there.

i usually use Pillsbury or Betty Crocker canned frosting (chocolate fudge, chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate) and tint it black. i find it easier to tint the chocolate than to tint the white buttercream. the one time i tinted my buttercream black, it bled.. so i'm sticking to the canned stuff since it works for me.

KoryAK- duh me on the chocolate! Candy melts, got it!

Chakkakin- thanks for your tip, I agree on the coloring, brown into black is so much easier. I'll have to try those you listed.

thanks!
