Hi, Im new & love this site!! Im making the Whimsical Bakehouse's Cookies & Cream filling for a cake tomorrow. Should I mix the Oreos in to the whipped cream now (will the go gross & soggy?) or do it tomorrow when I fill the cake (will they be hard and scratchy?)

Thanks so much! icon_smile.gif

Do it tomorrow. It won't take the cookies long to soften, and you really want the texture in there a little bit anyway. Otherwise, it really wouldn't be Cookies and Cream, now, would it?

I have put the filling in the cake the day before a party and it was fine. I've even ate the leftovers a few days after and it still tasted very yummy! So if your time is limited - go ahead and put them in today. They won't have the "crunchy" cookie texture, but it'll be easier to cut and put your fork into.

Actually I'm doing that today. I'm putting the filling in a cake for tomorrow. I LOVE LEFTOVERS!!!!

Would someone be willing to pass along the Whimsical Bakehouse's recipe for the Cookies & Cream filling? Is it the same or better than the recipes listed on this site for Cookies & Cream filling?

Thanks so much in advance,
Michele

You're right Incognito. After I wrote that post I looked back at the recipes and also saw at the bottom of the page that it was from Whimsical Bakehouse. Sorry!!

Incognito

I've made it the day before and it was fine.
I just added crushed Arnotts chocolate ripple biscuits to whipped cream. It was just like a chocolate ripple log cake.

I used this in a cake I was making for that night and it was VERY YUMMY, but then I refrigerated the leftovers, because I assume that filling needs to be refrigerated, and the next time I ate it, my cake tasted very dried out. I did this a few days later for someone else, but should I just tell them it needs to come to room temp before serving, or is it okay left out? I HATE dried out cake, and I would be so upset if someone didn't like what they paid for. Any suggestions? I love this filling, and I would hate not to use it!
