I just just get a half sheet cake pan or whatever size you want it to be and draw yourself out a template on some cardboard......cut it out....lay it on top of the cake, and cut the shape out.......use the left overs to make cake balls!!!!

I use templates like this for many of my cakes...it would work great with numbers! If you can't freehand the number you need, you can print one out in the font you like and enlarge it!

I have 2 under my photos... a number 2 and a number 7. They are cakes that I made several years ago. When I did the number 2, I used a template and cut it from a sheet cake but when I did the number 7 I got smarter and just hired the pan in the shape of the number... really cheap to hire and it turns out perfect every time, no carving or cutting needed. Do you have a pan hire place near you?
