I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO BUY THE FROSTING WICH DOESN'T REALLY COVER A 9" VERY WELL. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM IT JUST DOESN'T TASTE SWEET TO ME. MY MOMMY DOESN'T LIKE IT SHE DOESN'T KNOW I KNOW BUT I WANT TO KNOCK EVERYONES SOCKS OFF WHAT IS THE SECRET TO FROSTING LIKE THE ONE I BUY. SOMEONE SAVE ME!!!!!!!!
Are you speaking of Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines frosting, one of those little tubs in the supermarket?
There are literally hundreds of icing recipes, here in that section CC. Experiment with them until you find one you like.

I use Tami's buttercream recipe from recipe911.com. The problem with replicating the softness of canned frosting is that you won't be able to pipe it very well. Wilton class buttercream is about the worst tasting to me.
This recipe contains some heavy cream, so although it is sweet, it tastes rich and creamy. It pipes beautifully. Also, there is no sub for the real Crisco. I have not been happy with the taste from any store brand (I have tried 3).
