Could someone please tell me how to get the edge look on a square cake to look like a gift box? Is it a larger cake...molded chocolate or just thicker buttercream? Help please, I've got to make two of these next week and I don't know what I'm doing! (No suprise there!)
There is an article on this website about how to frost a square cake. Take a look and see if that helps you out any.

Thank you for responding. I saw that article and it was a real help ...but I'm trying to figure out how to get that look on the upper edge. Like there's a lid on the box.
Any ideas? I've tried to search for directions...but no luck.
I think that is just a single layer of cake frosted and on it's own cake board......you might need to dowel the bottom cake a little and set it kinda off kilter so it looks like the box lid (top cake) is slightly askew........is that what you're talking about??
Thank you both. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it look like its partially opened (askew)...I think just making it look like a lid would work for this guy.
I'll let you know what I end up with.
Maybe I can find a picture to better explain.
Thanks again...its nice having all these cake baking friends!
