Hi all, I absolutely love this site but am pretty new to posting. I am a beginner cake maker/designer and i love it, it's a lot of work but so much fun!!! I'm making a strawberry shortcake for my sister and i need help. First off i've never made one of these so i don't even know if i should use just a plain white cake. If anyone has a good strawberry shortcake recipe they'd be willing to share i would surely appreciate it but my main question is this....... How do you make the (or what is in) the glaze that you coat the strawberries with. I know the last time i had this cake i ate the berry and the glaze was delicious (not to sweet and oh so shiny) so i would appreciate any and all help offered. thank you so much!!!

You can purchase a very good strawberry glaze in the produce section of your supermarket.

Homemade is really too much of a bother. You have to juice or mascerate strawberries, then cook the juice down with sugar and cornstarch.

I don't make cakes with strawberry in it that often, so if I need glaze I just buy it.

Perhaps someone else out there has a recipe you can use.

country kitchen has a glaze for fruit. I have not tried it yet. I did order some and its on its way . I posted the same question awhile back and some told me about it. It seems that a lot of people are requesting cakes with strawberries on them for this time ot year.
