Ok, quick ?? here. Do you prefer to outline your cookies after you frost them or before (using the outline as a "dam") ??
Also, how do some of you get the outline line so smooth and continuous ?? I made some cookies today and outlined then first. But some of the outline lines have bumps where I paused for 1 quick second. What size tip do you use for outlining ??
Sorry about all of the questions--just found this site a few days ago and I am COMPLETELY hooked and OBSESSED.
Thanks for all the help.
Hi,
The way I decorate my cookies is I use Fondant..I roll out the fondant , then cut it out using the same cookie cutter as the cookie. Because for one, I hate to wait before it dries, second I get very sharp, crisp edges. And no piping involved. I have some photos if you want to see an example. The Green w/ Gold medallions, w/ white bows and Calla lilies.![]()
I do the same as kalico.. line then fill right away unless I use contrasting colors then I let the outline set for a while then fill it in
Prettycake, what temp do you cook your cookies at, and do you use the No Fail recipe on this site? Your cookies look so perfect!!!
I usually just pipe and flood all at the same time... Depending on the cookie shape.
Thanks for the pointers.
But one more question--do you outine with the same frosting consistency that you flood with or is the outline a thicker form ??
