I made a batch of Buttercream Dream today and decided to substitute almond extract for the vanilla. The recipe calls for 3 tsp of vanilla, so I added 3 tsp of almond extract. Obviously this was a mistake, because the taste of almond is SO STRONG! I actually like it, but I'm unsure as to whether other people will. The frosting is for chocolate cupcakes for a family function on Sunday (not paying customers).

Also, half the batch is regular buttercream, and the other half I added cocoa to for a chocolate taste. You can taste the almond through that, too, and again, it's not bad.

I guess my questions are, have you noticed that people are grossed out by a strong almond taste, and is there any way for me cut the taste?

Even if you have to make more buttercream to cut the taste, you can always freeze it for later use.

I wasn't sure if you could freeze buttercream. Good to know.
