Do you make a batch of this fondant to have on hand and then color as you need it?

I want to try to make this and use it next week, but am not sure what colors I want yet?

Thanks for any advice-

I am making the MMF with marshmellows, confectioner sugar and water-

Thanks

I have made it and put it in the freezer and then used as I needed. I should be fine.

A lot of people add color to the water when making mmf, if they know that they will be using the whole batch in that color. Otherwise, making a plain batch and kneading color into it later works fine. Just make sure you store your mmf well--slather it in shortening, double wrap in plastic wrap, then either seal in a foodsaver, or in a ziploc bag. When you're ready for it, kneading color into it should be no problem at all. icon_smile.gif

BTW, adding a Tbs or so of shortening to your melting marshmallows, and using shortening instead of powdered sugar or cornstarch on your board as you're kneading and rolling out your mmf, makes it a lot easier to work with. Hope that helps!

so true, also you can pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it back up for easy kneading. thumbs_up.gif

i make the small recipe, that way, you can color it what ever color you want.. and make a few different colors to have on hand. the best way is to add the color after you have melted the marshmellow's.

this recipe makes about a tennis ball size which is good if you need heaps of colors for accents etc....

small MMF recipe

1 cup of marshmellows
1 1/2 to 2 cups of powdered sugar
1 table spoon of water

you can also add a tablespoon of crisco or 1 teaspoon of glucose surup.

i like the glucose it keeps the MMF soft and adds elasticity to it....

HTH

cheers

Thanks for sharing your little recipe Kylie - that helps when you only need a little bit but a difficult colour to make and you don't want to be kneading all night!
