If you want something cheap (and small), I was at Target and in the scrapbook area they had small (maybe 6X6) impression mats for the scrapbook paper. I was thinking this would be great for doing small pices. They were about $1.00 each, they were in a pack and I can't remember how many to a pack but the price works out to about $1.00 each (I think it was a 12 pack). Also they had the same thing at Michael's but it was higher priced. I'll see if I can find a link.
This might be it, I can't tell if it's the same one I saw at the store but I think so.

don't forget to go over to the aisle where the polymer clay stuff is. there are small mats there also...got several last night, either 3.99 or 4.99. i also picked up several great molds, including one of adult and babies faces.
