Making for the first time. Just mixed icing with cake mix. Is it supposed to be kinda wet-mushy consistency before frozen and dipped?????

Thanks, I have them in the freezer now. Never made befor - or had them before so I'm not sure how they are supposed to be. They are pretty "wet".

I did my first batch last night and had that consistency, too. I formed them as best I could, sifted confectioner's sugar on them and formed them a little better, then popped them in a the freezer on a cookie sheet for about 10 minutes. I was able to dip them just fine after that.

I'd say mine are probably about cookie dough consistency, now that I am thinking about it. It is possible for me to dip them without freezing them first.

no - I definately have to freeze them. maybe I will try a little less icing - a little at a time. Plus does it matter that I used homemade buttercream not canned icing?

Mine was homemade BC leftover from a cake I did a week or so ago. I froze them, just to make them easier to handle, since I was just using a spoon to 'dip' them and mine were wetter than cookie dough (but I love that comparison as a guide!).
