Does anyone have any tips for me? I have to make a 3-d truck for a grooms cake. Is there a tutorial anywhere or does anyone have any words of wisdom. What do I make the wheels out of and what do I use to make the truck be off the cake board ( other than the tires?) Any thoughts or tips or photos would be helpful. The cake is next week...

I did a fedex truck for my dads birthday. I used the template on the wilton website. here's the link
http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects/add_pans/deliveringgoodwishes.cfm?section=cake&subsection=shapedpans&tertiary=adduseshome

Even if you're not looking for that kind of truck it would be a good start. HTH icon_smile.gif

I mades wheels out of modeling chocolate. Everyone raved about it. It kind of taste like an tootie roll. Here is the recipe. It is by Collette Peters.

ingredients
8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon light corn syrup

directions
Melt the chocolate in a metal bowl set over a pan of hot but not boiling water. Stir the chocolate with a wooden spoon until smooth, then stir in the corn syrup; the chocolate will stiffen almost immediately. Stir until completely combined. Transfer the chocolate to a sturdy plastic bag and refrigerate until firm.

Work the Modeling Chocolate with your hands until pliable. Hand-shape the Modeling Chocolate into flowers, braids or ropes. Or pat it into a disk and roll it out to the desired thickness by hand or in a manual pasta machine and use it to make ribbons or for cutting out shapes.

I used a dense chocolate cake for mine, I also covered mine in fondant, I used a lot of ideas from cc members, try searching lighting mcqueen cake or 3d car cake, also I have been trying to get you this link but my computer is messing up Boonenati a member here has an awesome tutorial on a car and wheeels in her case they are the instruction on her purse cake on how to make a compact case it's how I made my wheels.
Good luck! Is there anything in particular you need help with?

Sorry you have scrolls down and go up I attached them in the wrong order
hope this helps with wheels just find a cutter to fit the dimensions of your truck. I took this idea from Boonenati's purse tutorial
