I have taken all the Wilton classes but feel like they were not enough(or maybe it was the teachers). Are there any videos(DVDS) that teach decorating methods. My teacher for Wiltons had only finished the classes the month before(didn't find that out till the 3rd class was almost done!).Help ! with any advice! God bless Donna icon_sad.gif

I felt the same way once I finished my wiltons class (my tacher had just finished her self). I actaully founf a littel cake shoe in my area that does classes and I taken a couple specialty classes from them...check around maybe someone else in your area teaches them.

Hi!

Welcome to CC, since I see you're a newbie. I haven't taken any classes, to be honest, b/c I wanted to try to do it myself with my craft knowledge and help from some books before I spent the money on Wilton classes.

I'm glad I waited b/c I don't think I need them, however I AM interested in other classes. Have you searched on google for your area to see about some culinary/pastry institutes that offer classes? That may be your best bet other than self-instruction from books. There are also many cake shops that offer classes usually for a hefty fee, it just depends how badly you want to take the classes!!

What state do you live in? Maybe someone from your area will be able to help you locate a store, that offers lessons.

Welcome to all you newbies!! Yes, there are many, many, many, many, many videos out there with other techniques. It just depends on what you want to learn. For gumpaste for example, Nicholas Lodge and Scott Clark Woolley have great DVDs. For piping, the Winbeckler's have some cool videos as does Marsha Winbeckler if you want to learn cocoa painting. I guess it all depends on what y'all want to learn! I even have a few Martha Stewart videos on other things but one has a great marzipan veggies short I like to watch. Then again, there are always classes at the local cake store too. What exactly are you interested in?

check your yellow pages and online for local cake and candy supply stores. they usually offer classes taught by local cake decorators.

OR, stock up on books with good instructions or lessons. Toba Garrett's new book, Professional Cake Decorating is set up like little lesson plans for each technique. Whimsical Bakehouse also has great instructions on how to do cakes like theirs.

Nicholas Lodge has lots of videos on his website too.

I recently saw a link posted here that Netflix had two gumpaste flower DVDs.
