I was wondering what type of cake everyone uses for just a basic birthday cake. We went to a party this past weekend and I really enjoyed the cake. The baker is unwillling to share what kind of cake its... its really moist...almost has a rough texture not smooth on the inside...could it be a butter cake>?i know this is really vague
Was it a yellow or white cake? Did you find out if it's homemade? Maybe it's a doctored box mix? Give a little more details and maybe we would be able to help you a bit more ![]()
Once you said it had a rough texture not smooth on the inside I would say it was a homemade from scratch butter cake. I mainly bake a butter cake from scratch and a box chocolate cake. Mosts parties I bake for always want 2 cakes, so I have the butter cake and the chocolate for the chocolate lovers. Unless they want a cheesecake or a lemon cake or what ever but I always bake 2 different kinds.
Ok that is rude. I make a lot of scratch items and if people want the recipe I almost always give it to them...of course everything I own is in grams and oz so if you have a scale be my guest to try it. People who don't tell anything about a recipe are just silly. What is the harm. 99% of people won't make it for themselfs anyway. Humpf..crazy baker!
I would ask the person who ordered the cake. She knows what she ordered.
A moist but rough or dense texture would most likely be a butter cake. I always use this type of recipe for fondant cakes. It is realy firm and stable. The recipe that I use is Wilton's butter cake recipe. It is really nice. You could find the recipe on Wilton's website.
I can't believe she wouldn't give you the recipe. I will always give my recipes to people, because even if they do make it for themselves they won't take the time to decorate it. My stepmother always asks me for recipes because my dad likes my cooking so much and it makes me laugh because she never uses anything but the microwave! hahahaha
