Palm Tree Help

I am making palm trees for this luau cake tomorrow. A few nights ago, I made the leaves from fondant-they are currently drying. I took pretzel rods and cut little brown bark pieces and attached to the pretzel. They too are drying. Now what?
I was going to attach the leaves to the pretzel rods with RI...
Two questions...
-Should I use some wire to keep the leaves from breaking?
-Can i just stick the pretzel rods into the cake, or will they be too top heavy and fall over? i attached the picture that I am using as a guide. Thanks so much!!!

I have pmd the person who made that cake twice now. Once a month or so ago, and again a couple of weeks ago...she has not responded icon_sad.gif
