I think I am finally getting it. I have moved up from big pile of mushed icing to somewhat flower-like. I still am not satisfied with them. The edges are a little jagged. I opened the tip up a little, and added corn syrup but I'm still having problems. I don't think the icing is to stiff either. Does anyone have any tips?

piping gel or corn syrup should do it.........hey, I have those same paper plates LOL........the bottom pink one doesn't look jagged in the least....looks stunning!!!!!!!!!! I don't think you could even pipe a more perfect rose.....seriously!!!!!!!!

I agree with KH, that lower pink one looks great! I really don't think the white one looks that bad, either!

Just keep practicing and you will learn through trial & error! It looks & sounds like you're defintely getting somewhere!

BTW, I have those plates, too, lol!

Thanks! I don't get it. I will do one rose and it is fine and the next one the edges are bad. I know when I do them for a cake they won't turn out. That is always my luck!

My instructor told us that if the consistency of the icing is fine, then put more pressure on the bag when making the roses and the edges won't be raggedy.

I agree with the others. I have not seen a more perfect rose than the one in front. If I could pipe just one that perfectly, I'd be very proud! My rose making is trial and error...75% of them end up being recycled icon_lol.gif

Call me crazy....but I like the rough edge! I think it makes it look more realistic.

But that's just me! thumbs_up.gif

I AGREE WITH CLB307. I have yet to see a real rose wth perfect edges.

You have done a really good job mariak

I think your roses look great. The two with the smooth edges are great but I like the ones with rough edges too. The rough edges make them look more real. I wish mine were coming out that good. I am okay until I get to the last row of petals then I have problems.
