How did you figure out which one was the best for you? And has anyone found a place that has the best prices for them?

thanks,
Kat

I have the Artisan model because I wanted a yellow one and I don't need a larger version because I have a 20 quart Hobart. If I didn't have the Hobart, I probably would have gotten a 6 quart for sure. If you have a Sam's Club or Costco- you should check there. I know I saw a 6 quart for a great price there. Also, amazon.com has good deals sometimes. Right now I think you get a free ice cream maker or pasta attachment with the purchase of the Artisan (but I might be wrong about the specifics- I do know they are giving away something free!!!).

So far the Artisan does everything that I need it to, but I don't make my own fondant so I can't tell you how good it works for that.

My DH just ordered Kitchen Aid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Empire Red from Amazon.com for me.
We got it one attachment free and $25 off.
From long time I was looking for good deal.
So I think I got it now.
I think this is good size for small bakers like me.

Also try Linens and Things as they always have a 20% coupon floating around. Best of luck!

I have the 6 quart version KA and I love it! It's great when you want to make a double recipe and works well for single recipes too. Just don't try to move it by yourself! (You may even need a forklift..lol)
I have a friend that has the Artisan and loves it because the beaters lift up (mine doesn't).
Whichever one you decide to get, I'm sure you'll be very happy because KA is the Best!! Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

If you go on shopkitchenaid.com you can do a comparison of models to see which one is best for you. They also have some forums you can read to see what people say about different models.

I check them out first and then went to Amazon.com as well as Linens n Things. LnT has the Artisan 5 qt. (the one I want) for $269 and you can use a 20% off coupon.

Amazon.com has the same one for $214.99 and there is a coupon code right on the website to save $25, plus there is no tax and free shipping. It came to $189.99 delivered to the door. They have lots of colors, too. More than LnT. (not that I have been researching these things or anything... icon_wink.gifthumbs_up.gif )

Good luck.

Before you make a final decision, check out the clearance and refurbished ones on the Kitchenaid site. The clearance l es are brand new...refurbished are not, of course. I got my pro6 as a refurb, and I couldn't be happier with it. I think it was $239. I just ordered a refurb blender from them. You can't beat the price, IMHO. BTW....if they've still got refurbished bowls, they are the deal of the century! HUGE savings on refurb bowls. I'm so glad I got that second bowl!

I got mine at Kohl's when they were having a sale, plus a rebate, plus my dad's senior discount. As far as which one, i would go to the store and play with them. I though for sure I wanted the 6 qt professional one, but after playing around with them, I just didn't like bowl lift thing. I found I preferred the tilt of the artisan. That's just a personal preference.

I got my 6 qt. pro from Kitchenaid's site. I love the big bowl. I purchased mine as a refurbished model and was really nervous until it was delivered. The only flaw was a scuff mark in the bowl and it came with a 6 month warranty. When I saw the price of new smaller models it seemed like the refurbished was the best option for me. However, I imagine it can also depend on how much you would be using it. For me this is just a hobby I enjoy and am very new to. If you don't want to consider refurbished, I have heard that this is one of the better times of the year to purchase one because of Mother's Day sales. There seemed to be a lot advertised this week.

Good luck!

Ditto about the sales for Mother's Day. I just got my Kohl's circular and the KAs are on sale there. I believe certain models qualify for a free attachment from KA.
