Basically, I have a couple of communion cakes to make with cholocate molded hands & Cross etc... I would like the white chocolate to have the glitter effect... icon_smile.gif

1) Could I add lustre dust to melted - ( like the Wilton chippy icon_sad.gif things)?

2) Also, if I can't get the lustre dust may I use crushed cake sparkles? if so, what are the directions?

Almost forgot last question- to avoid sticking, do I have to spray the molds prior to filling them?

Thanx for your directions as usual thumbs_up.gif

To use the luster dusts, you'd brush them on after the chocolate/candy melts have set and been released from the mold...while it's at room temp. The dusts don't seem to stick if the molded chocolate is cold. I've never had to grease a mold when using candy melts. I pop the mold in the fridge to set and they pop right out.

Absolutely do not spray your molds. You will mess up the mold/chocolate. I have a candy and cake supply store and sell molds all day long. As to the luster, you can brush it in heavily into the mold before you pour in your chocolate and then pour in the chocolate. When you pop out the molded chocolate it will have adhered. If you want a heavier effect, you can also paint it on afterwards.

As usual thanks for the feedback.icon_biggrin.gif
Is lustre dust and cake sparkle (the Wilotn stuff) the same thing? icon_confused.gif

The cake sparkles are like little, shiny, transparent flakes but the dusts are very fine powders.
