I have a 2-layered 8inch cake, filled w/strawberry mousse. I have it sitting on a plate that is decorated in blue and green swirls. The border of the cake has blue roses all around it w/the green leaves. (sorry I have no pic)

I was trying to think of a way to border the bottom (as the roses on top are regular sized)

so the question is: does anyone have an idea on how to finish this off?? I'll try to take a pic when I get home. It's pretty much plain. I have to write on the top "Thanks for all your support".

I hope I've described it clearly.

thanks everyone

You could always put cut strawberries around the bottom. Those would go nicely with the strawberry mousse filling. icon_smile.gif

do you think that they would "bleed" in the warm temp???

that's a great idea

I think I'm going to go w/the strawberry idea, next question..... should I dip them in chocolate?? and if I have a border around the top of the cake of blue roses, would it look stupid to put dipped choc strawberries in the middle???

thanks

How about dipping them in white chocolate?

Yeah, I'd go with the white dipped to match the cake better.

what about dipping them, and then drizzling lines over them in the blue ??? Maybe color the white chocolate......you'd need candy colors or I guess if you use a tiny bit, you might be able to get away with wilton's colors without seizing the choc. but be careful...maybe candy melts in the same blue??

the wilton will sieze the choc????? that's a great idea though... the store that sold the colored choc is no longer. So if I could color the choc that would be GREAT I would only need enough blue to drizzle over them right?? Now should I stick w/blue since the flowers are blue, or go w/a different color????

I'd probably be inclined to make it match........I've used a touch of wilton colors in white chocolate to cover petit fours and it worked.......a lot of people will say don't do it because the colors are water based and chocolate is oil based and water and oil don't mix, etc....well, I needed a pastel pink and put a touch of red in and it worked beautifully..........depending on the shade of blue you need you may be able to do a touch of royal blue and get a nice softer blue hue without disrupting the composition of the chocolate. I think it would be gorgeous white dipped strawberries with blue drizzle.......heck even darker choc. would look great with the blue drizzle I love brown and blue together...........matter of fact I"m decorating my bedroom in those very colors LOL

oh, by the way A.C. Moore and Michaels sell the candy melts and also the powdered colors to color candy....same ones you would use for chocolate.

KHalstead thank you so much. I am NOT a color matcher!!!!!!!! I stay w/the basic colors on clothing and everything else...I have a fear of color lol!!!

I'll post a pic.

thanks for the fyi on the melts, unfortunately, the closest ac moore or michaels is at least 30min away so I'll have to remember that for the future..
