I bought my pasta machine at Michael's. Usually, the motor is purchased separately. That is my next purchase.

Oh my gosh I have a question!!

We got a pasta machine for a wedding gift that is kind of like a bread machine you put in raw ingredients and it spits out pasta awhile later.....

Anyway....

Could I use this to extrude fondant do you think?? It has 8 different disks for different shapes of pasta!

I have the same machine. I do not think it will work, because the density of fondant is so much greater than that of pasta dough. The fondant would have to be made mighty soft (lots and lots of crisco) before it worked. Did you see the episode of Ace of Cakes where Duff had to knead about half a pound of crisco into the fondant before he could extrude the lo mein for the chinese take out box cake?

But if you try it and it works, please let me know. That would open up a whole world full of new ideas.

Thanks!

Bummer! Thanks Theresa! I might since we haven't made pasta in the thing for about 8 years or so (we've been married 9) and it is just taking up space in my pantry! icon_lol.gif

First I have to figure out how to make fondant! icon_smile.gif

Yeah, mine just sits around and collects dust too. I just don't have the time to worry about dragging it down to make fresh pasta, although it is way better than dried or frozen.

I just don't think there is enough pressure in the screw and motor to force fondant through, unless it was kneaded to the point where it sticks to your hands.

What if you softened it in the microwave...?
