So I have a star shaped chocolate mud cake filled and coated with peanut butter butter cream dream and covered in white chocolate fondant. Now I need to luster dust it to make it gold. Do I dry dust this or wet paint it like other fondant? I want that real gold full coverage look. icon_confused.gif

I forgot to add I have an airbrush but didn't know if airbrushing went well on the white chocolate fondant. I thought about airbrushing it deep yellow then luster dusting it. I have never used this fondant before and just don't wanna have to waste a whole cake. Guess I coulda asked before I went this far though. icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

Do you have a left over piece of fondant that you could do a test on?

Not having any exprience of this, that's the best suggestion I can come up with!

I'm no help but have the same question for a cake this weekend. I think you can use the airbrush. I don't have one so planned to try and dry brush it. Good luck and here's a bump.

I think you can airbrush it. Mix the luster dust with some vanilla extract or clear alcohol like vodka or gin, keep swirling it to keep dispersed. I've done pearl dust this way, and it works well.

thats a good idea to start with the color first. then you'll use less dust on your final coat. make sure you airbrush slowly and evenly, allowing a bit of time to dry in between coats cause if you go crazy, it will drip instead of looking evenly coated.
