MMF is fondant made from marshmallows.

Fondant is like working with sweet play doh. It is so much fun to work with!

You can find a recipe for MMF in the recipe section.

Have you taken any of the Wilton courses? Course 3 is a good lesson on the basics of fondant.

Fondant is a smooth covering made with powdered sugar as a main ingredient. There are different types but MMF seems to be the most popular here (and the most economical). I describe it as a starburst candy covering...sweet and chewy. I call Ganache a hostess cupcake covering...it is YUMMY! There are several recipes on this site and my favorite is ChefTaz's recipe, Chocolate Ganache 1.

I dont know how economical MMF is in the US but where I'm from it makes more sense for me to make plain fondant from scratch. Its just a couple of tablespoons of cornsyrup some unflavoured gelatine and some glycerine in addition to the powdered sugar. Its less trouble to me to make than MMF as there is no bowl greasing required and hence the cleanup is much easier. I'd be glad to share the recipe I use with anyone who wants it.

It is about 1 dollar for the marshmallows and a little over a dollar for the powdered sugar. It is cheap to make here!
