I've never used a strawberry filling. I've found one in the recipe section I want to use. It says to mash the strawberries. EXACTLY HOW do I mash strawberries?

TIA!

Got to love the old fashion potato masher, it works well. I use it when we are making strawberry jam every year.

You can control how mashed they are.

Good Luck

with blender, it's designed to liquify....so if not real, real careful, will have strawberry syrup not mash.

take a hint from my mom--- here kid, sit at the table and mash the strawberries (hand child bowl and very small fork)
::thinking to herself:: -- that'll keep him quiet for a little while at least.

Hey, doug, if I did that in the blender, do you think I could mix that in with some bc? Would that make a good filling? I'm torting a cake & putting this in between the "torts", lol, and I was worried about having a sturdy enough dam.

yes, BUT strain first to get rid of the seeds... I'd them put it back in blender a second time w/ what ever other liquid you plan to use to make your BC -- tho' -- warning the syrup is already very "wet" and you will probably have to cut down on the amount of other liquid.

and since you are using fresh not cooked strawberries, this should be refrigerated.

We mash strawberries to eat all the time. My in-laws use a biscuit cutter, and I use either that or a pastry blender. Works great!!!

anything -- everything -- she could that took the work load off her and put it on the kids! only later did I figure out her "method" of making me mix cake batter and cookie dough by hand when she had a perfectly good Sunbeam Mixmaster.....she was trying to tire me out so I'd be less of a pest.

so, cooking since 4
cleaning and laundry since 6
and sewing since about 8
with stops for diapering/bathing/dressing/feeding/etc. baby along the way (sis was practice victim)

she and dad lost moms at early age and were late teens during depression and came from very selfreliant families....sooo...had no choice but to learn every domestic/home skill and lots of practicle skills too from dad.

In addition to all of the tools already mentioned, I've also used a garlic press, but you have to do it one at a time there.
