Can you add any flavor instant pudding to cake mixes. If you can what would you guys use with DH butter recipe golden and fudge marble. There were from what i can remember vanilla, banana cream, cheesecake, french vanilla and some others but i cant remember them all. If its ok to do this let me know what flavors you think would go best with each mix. Thanks icon_smile.gif

My favorite for butter recipe is the butterscotch pudding!

I've used the vanilla and banana with the golden cake. Both were great. I would probably use the vanilla with the fudge marble cake. The purpose is to really make the cakes moist so vanilla would probably not change your fudge taste.

I agree with Kimanalynn. I just made a golden yellow cake and put butterscotch pudding in it. Oh it smelled so good.

For Devil's food I use devil's food; chocolate fudge I use chocolate fudge; french vanlla with french vanilla; I used to use vanilla with the butter recipe, but I switched to butterscotch and love it; I recently bought a german chocolate mix, and I am planning on using the coconut cream pudding with that one. I usually try to find something very similar to what the mix is; for a strawberry cake once I used the banana; there is a cheesecak, and a white chocolate pudding mix also.

I did use the vanilla fat-free sugar-free instant pudding in the marble cake it was great - did not change the color or the taste of the cake.

You just need to consider what flavor cake you want to acheive. With a fudge marble cake mix, you would want to add a pudding that would either be flavorless or would enhance either the fudge flavor or the vanilla flavor. I would use either vanilla, french vanilla, or maybe chocolate, but that would color the cake a bit (maybe just add the pudding powder to the chocolate part of the batter). For the butter cake mix, you could really add any flavors that pair well with butter. Chocolate, banana, butterscoth, french vanilla, etc.

Question: Is this just for boxed cake mixes? Or do you add these to scratch cakes as well? icon_razz.gif JUST CURIOUSicon_smile.gif

I have a dumb question, if you add pudding mixes to a box cake mix, do you have to add anymore liquid?
