I am so glad you posted that. I have tried and tried to look at the pictures and keeps timing out. These figures, cakes are amazing. You are a true artist! I would love to be able to make Tinkerbell like that. My daughter adores her..... So lovely!!! How did you make her wings? What did you use to paint her eyes, etc. Thank you so much!

I found a link to a really good discussion re cold porcelain... how it is used, what kind of paints, glue, etc.

http://members.nuvox.net/~zt.proicer/aolchats/990401ch.htm

icon_eek.gif THIS IS ONE EXCERPT from above article: The cold porcelain should not be used with the gumpaste on the cake because it is a non-edible product. There was some discussion in the class of a person in California who was being sued for using them directly on a cake. You can use them for ornaments to match the flowers on the cake but you would need to sit them on a gumpaste circle or put them into an arrangement so that the flowers will not actually be sitting on the cake.

so it is basically a clay? What makes it different from sculpey....that it looks and behaves like porcelain?

I did check out the link. I thought it was hard to read and very poorly organized. I only read a little bit of it before, but I just went back to it and tried again...yuck.

so, if it is not edible, and should be placed on gumpaste, not on the cake directly, then does that mean you could also set it on fondant too? and if you set it on fondant or gumpaste, then should one not eat that part of the cake top either??? sorry, I am work and have not had a chance to read the article and links yet....just thinking outloud.

Yes, I did change my avatar! How nice of you to notice... I had one of my daughter in her Pocahontas Halloween costume and changed it to one of her at Easter. I didn't realize it would change all of them...thought it would only change the new posts....

Your welcome Superstar! I know it's not great in how it is organized but I found a lot of info about cold porcelain in the discussion. Perhaps there is a better one out there. Just thought I'd share. Hey Superstar did you make your CA trip? PM me....
