I am making some animals out of GP and my heads keep falling off, what is your favorite adhesive for this kind of work and why? icon_biggrin.gif

i'd use gumglue- break a quarter teaspoon of gumpaste into small pieces in a bowl and add a tablespoon of water. let it sit until it's dissolved, about an hour. it works well for holding my decorations together

If the pieces are already dry, I like to use royal icing. I use the gum glue when the pieces are fresh, but it is a pain when the pieces are already dry. Also use foam pieces (the soft kind) to help prop up your pieces and to hold the pieces that are drying in place.

Is your recipe for Gumglue the same as the one from above?

Yup, pretty much, I just don't measure. I store mine in old pixie dust jars, so I will break off a bunch of small pieces to almost fill the jar and then just cover with hot water and let set until dissolved. And all the pieces don't have to be completely dissolved either. icon_wink.gif

I use toothpicks to keep my fondant heads on.

I use gum glue or else I will use some meringue powder and water mixed to adhere the gumpaste pieces when they are fresh!

I would use spaghetti instead of toothpicks. Just incase that a child (0-100) would put that animal in thier mouth and bite down.

I have just used water before. I have done the toothpick trick too but I really like the spaghetti idea!
