Beach Theme Wedding Cake

I have a cake to do with a beach theme with 2 pair of sandels enclosed in a heart of flowers. The picture was too big to attach. I was thinking of painting the water scene on the side of the (top tier, and bottom tier would be square with sandels and the flowers. I would mold the figures. As far as the constrruction I would make the round tier more off center the make room for the sandels and flowers. Please give me any ideas you may have on this. I can email anyone the picture. Please help.
it's a small thing, but cookies are allways great for sand.
Hope to see the cake when it is done. ![]()
I saw on Food Network where they used dried cake crumbs for sand.

all the following will work ...and can even be mixed together for interesting effect:
crushed vanilla wafers (medium and light color mixed)
crushed saltines (light color)
crushed graham crackers (medium to dark color)
brown sugar (light or dark)
cake crumbs (as mentioned by ladyonzlake)

any edible thing that will make a fine crumb of the right color --- tho' those above are the most often used.
Go with the cookies or cake crumbs - I used the brown sugar and it looked great, but was a bit tricky to work with and it gets hard so it is not too tasty by the time you finally cut into it.
Thanks for the info. I'm during a trial version this weekend.
