What is the easiest way to transfer a pattern to a sheet cake?

there's an fbct, which is easy but time consuming, counting the freezing; there's also a pin-prick method, where you take a tooth pick and "prick" the pattern into the cake & then fill in.

I tried the fbct but when I removed it from the wax paper the outline smeared into the rest of the colors. I used a spatula to remove it, is there a better way?

If you want something so that you don't have to free hand it, you can use a piping gel transfer. Take your image and lay a piece of wax paper over it. Using piping gel and a tip 1 or 2 trace the image on to the wax paper. When you get tracing it, flip the wax paper over onto your iced cake and lightly run your hand over it. When you pull the wax paper away, the piping gel will stay and give you an outline to follow.

IMHO, waxed paper is a poor medium for FBCT. I couldn't get a clean release until I switched to plastic wrap. I had to tape the wrap down carefully so it wouldn't move....but it comes away totally clean and doesn't mess up your design.

Thanks,

I will try that. Can I keep the fbct in the freezer for a couple of weeks?

I have heard it being done, but it was put in a container so it didnt take on any smells in the freezer. My son and I did a few for his boy scout blue and gold cake that is in my gallery, and they were in the fridge for a week and they did ok....
