Okay - I posted this in the how do I? section, but no response so far. I need to figure this out and order the dust today - please help! My friend wants fondant starts on the top of her cake that have a diamond/rhinestone look to them to mimic the rhinestone word stickers on her placemats at a women's tea we are having this weekend (glitz and glam is the theme). I wasn't sure what the best way was to get this effect - use silver luster dust and go over it with silver disco dust? PLEASE HELP!!! icon_confused.gif

Do you have enough time to make rock candy sheets? About two weeks? I made them with boiled water and sugar and put the mixture in a square tupperware box. They come out like little crystals on a sheet. you can break them up and use them like a mosaic tile. There is a picture of the effect in my photos. Sorry I don't know how to upload a pic in the reply. Hope I helped!

Nope - it's for this Saturday. Has anyone used the nu-silver and disco dust?

I have 2 questions too since we are talking about dusts. Do you have to use alcohol when thinning any of the dusts out or can you use a different liquid? Can you use the dust on any kind of icing?

you can use anything else. Lemon extract dries quick.

This link has a couple of good links on how to make sugar glass (I think it is the same as rock candy):

I have used the Nu Silver and I think it would be kind of "heavy", maybe a superpearl (whatever color) and some pixie dust.
