Hi guys! I know i haven't been here in forever. I've been so busy with school, and haven't had really much time for cakes. I'm trying to make a gumpaste monogram, and my question is how i can anchor it so that it doesn't fall over in the cake. I made numbers once, and it would not stay on the cake because it was too heavy. So i'm just wondering how you guys do this?
Thanks.

I would stick some wires into the gumpaste while it's soft........dip the wire in some water, shake off the excess adn then stick in the numbers much like you would with flowers......then once it hardens the wire should be secured in the numbers pretty well....then you can just stick the wire into the cake.....you would also do this with skewers or toothpicks.......but I find for really heavy or large items wire works the best because you can make it really long! hope that helps

I stuck skewers up the length of the gumpaste while it was soft. Worked great when the cake was complete and traveled well.

thanks so much guys! I think that will work well. I tried toothpicks the last time and they were to short and not sturdy. I'm going to try wiring them i am just worried about getting the wire in complicated monogram lettering lol.
