I've used the Wilton b/c but hubby said it tastes slimy ( I think he objects to the Crisco) so I tried a different one that uses 1 cup of butter and 1 cup shortening. It taste great but I ran it to a problem.

The icing is melting right in the bag. I mean it is foaming up and everything! icon_confused.gif

Does anyone have a recipe I can use that doesn't melt and isn't more than half crisco?

thanks

I use the Wilton recipe, except instead of the Crisco I put in one stick of butter.

Be sure to just use one stick of butter, you get less icing, but people love the way mine tastes. When I used 2 sticks (to equal the amount of Crisco that it calls for), it got melty and frothy on me, too. So I cut it down to one stick and it works great.

Good luck. icon_biggrin.gif

I keep a bowl of ice water next to me when I'm decorating (my hands are super hot) and everytime my hands start to feel warm I just submerge them in the ice water for 30 seconds, dry them off and go back to piping........works good enough for me!!
