What size tiers would I use to serve approximately 200? I need to know for a 4-tiered wedding cake. Would it be 6, 8, 10, 12, saving the 6 inch for the anniversary? Thanks!
have you checked the wilton or earlene's chart for serving sizes? maybe that would help.

if they're not serving the top tier i would do a 6, 9, 12, 15. the 3 inch difference in cake size will look nicer IMHO, and you'll get 200 servings our of the bottom 3 tiers easily. (105, 72, and 35 servings i think? i don't have a chart handy)
Would it work to use 14/12/10/8, with the 8 not counting, if I use 3 inch deep pans and 2 layers?

if you do 2 three inch layers your cake will prolly end up being 7-8 inches tall on each tier after you've added your filling, which is really too tall. it will hang over the edge of the plates, which are usually just 6 inchs across.

I think I missed something here. How will making a cake tall result in it being wide?? And plates comes in various sizes. Sorry ... I've gone dense here ![]()
