I'm just in the beginning stages of this and would like to know where everyone began with their website...
I have very little computer experience (except online shopping and cake central LOL). Where do I begin...what is a good starting place? Anyone have any good sites that I can begin my website, very user friendly? And also without spending too much money? Any advice, I would REALLY appreciate! Thanks so much, Kristen

I pay for my site, so I will set that question aside .... you will get lots of good advice on free websites from other CC'ers.

But what I wanted to suggest is that you have a good idea of the text you are going to put on there. Write it ahead of time. You don't want to wing it as you are building your site. Have your photos picked out, your narrative ready.

I did my website myself with little to no knowledge of building a website. I used Freewebs.com and upgraded to avoid advertisements on the sides of my web pages. They walk you through each step. Very user friendly.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm trying to reseach, but the sites are very deceptive. I don't mind the ads, if you have a "real" site. Does anyone have any insite on this.

I don't want to break any "self-promotion" rules which is why I didn't post any information or a link to my site. I'm a freelance web designer, as well as a home baker / cake decorator.

If you have questions about having your own website, I'd be more than happy to answer them for you.

Please send me a PM.
