I had a cake due for today so last night I ventured to the local Hobby Lobby, and to my suprise they were out of cake boxes!!!!! So I think okay I know the small Walmart in my town does not carry them but what about the larger city. So I go to that Walmart and NO cake boxes. I proceed to the bakery and BEGGED for a box. They gave me one but it had to say Walmart on it. I didn't care at that point! All I cared about was the cake being boxed. !!! So big thanks to Walmart. But I really wish they would have a bigger selection in the cake decorating department!!

Hiya alicia,
Our wallymart just reset their crafts and fabrics dept. (where they keep all the kewl stuff) And they have just gotten in quite a bit more wilton cake decorating stuff. I just noticed that they are now selling the gumpaste flower sprays and bows. So it's getting better n all that stuff. But yeah even the bakery is getting more stuff. Wish though that there were some way that we could get boxes for the bigger cakes and that there was someway that we could stack cakes without store using dowels from crafts and fabrics (sheesh talk about making life hard).
O, by the way, I am the bakery lead associate in our wallymart, and yes, I am very picky about the cakes that go out the door.

It was for my husband's boss's bday today. They won't care. I'll probably get heck from it saying that I really didn't make it and I just bought it from Walmart. icon_smile.gif They have a good sense of humor. !!

wal-mart is not suppose to give/sell the boxes with their names on it b/c if someone from home put something in there to sell or as a donation and someone would get severly sick and didn't know the true maker, it could come back on wal-mart. Sounds like a long shot but I am sure in this day and age someone would do it.

There are several places where you can buy cake boxes and boards online to save time. I bought a case of sheet cake boxes from ebay for only $20 plus shipping. Also try www.instawares.com. They have pink cake boxes as well.

This way you will always have some on hand. I purchase cake boxes on ebay whenever I get a chance that way I will never run out. I still have two or three cases now from a year ago. icon_biggrin.gif
