Need Something To Go With Cream Cheese Filling

cream cheese filling. I just purchased some to try something different. I usually just use boxed cakes with buttercream or milk chocolate. I want to expand and saw cream cheese filling. I made the impulse buy and now don't know what kind of cake really would compliment it.

my favorite is carrot cake with cream cheese.
my favorite is also carrot cake, but you could also use it with a red velvet cake.
I agree cream cheese is a winner! Chefgirl, how did you do your strawberry creamcheese filling?
I use cream cheese in my frosting....I usually do 1/4 cream cheese, 1/4 butter and 1/2 crisco along with the conf. sugar, vanilla and almond extracts, milk (if needed) and the merengue powder. The cream cheese crusts well so I can smooth my cakes easily.

I have made cream filled banana cupcakes that I really like. Im not sure if this interests your or not. Cream cheese filling:
8oz Cream cheese softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup semi sweet chocolate ( i find minis the easiest )
Combine cream cheese, sugar and egg in bowl. Beat until smooth. Stir in mini chips
I made a white chocolate raspberry cake with white chcoolate raspberry cream cheese icing......so good........maybe you could make a white chocolate flavored cake.......or even throw in some extract in your filling......raspberry, strawberry, whatever.........it's a yummy combo
With all this cream cheese talk - I made my first whipped cream/cream cheese cake fro mothers day. I just diced up some stawberries and placed them on top of the frosting/filling in the center. - Yummy! and rave reviews. Thanks to all of you for the idea and suggestions!

ok, here's one that no one mentioned, but is one of my personal favorites...italian cream cake. The recipe I use is from epicurious and it's called "Aunt Tom's Italian Cream Cake" it is YUMMMMY!
