Ok Guys, my customer that wanted the garden/farmer cake for Saturday, just called and changed his mind...

Now he wants a cake in the shape of a pot, with Mac & Cheese on the top with a bone in the middle (like ham bone) icon_confused.gif

Definitly a different idea (LOL) Well the pot is easy to do but my biggest questions are...... What to use for the handle of the pot & how would it attach to the cake?

Next question.....What tip would you guys reccomend for making the Mac & Cheese.

Thank All You Caker's In advance....

Hi!

I would mold some handles for the pot out of gumpaste...stick toothpicks in the sides or maybe lollipop sticks and then stick into your cake. I did this for my purse handle and it worked fine. The only other thing I can think of would be licorice and then bending it to make the handle. I did this for a game cube cake.

I would use a round tip 12 for the mac and cheese. I would just make lots of strings of it until you have a big mound.

This is the kind of cake people usually ask me to do!!!

I can't wait to see a picture of it! icon_biggrin.gif

Could you use a big pretzel rod frosted for the pot handle? Sounds like a fun cake!

For the handle, you could just use a dowel wrapped in fondant...maybe build up the fondant a little where the handle would normally be thicker or wider...then just leave a bit of the dowel 'naked' (no fondant covering it) and use that to stick it into the cake? I was thinking royal for the macaroni, too. As for the hambone...uhhhhhh....you're on your own with that one!! icon_razz.gif I'm no help there...LOL icon_razz.gificon_rolleyes.gif I wouldn't even know where to begin with it...maybe fondant...but what does a ham bone really look like? Anyone know?? icon_confused.gif

I don't know about the handle, but if I were doing the noodles I think I would use a pasta maker. I don't know if you have one, but I have a pasta maker attachment for my Kitchen Aid. I would color the fondant cheese color and then feed it through the pasta maker and cut it just like pasta, I think it would be super life-like.
