Totally Clueless....please Help Me!

Ok so I'm definately not a professional, but word is spreading about my cakes. So I've got a friend asking for a birthday cake for her brother. She wants it to look like a drum (see website)

She doesn't know exactly how many people she needs it for...but I got her to say that it's at least less than 50 people.

My questions are:
How big should I make the cake? and
How much should I charge for it?

BC or Fondant or MMF?
Figure 1.75$ for BC 2.25 for the FON or mmf
a slice.
Maybe a 10 inch pan or 2 nine inch.
I'm guessing here.

What about the size? I have the serving sheet for wedding cakes...but what about a regular birthday cake? Should i just half the wedding cake serving?

I use the following chart for party cakes (comes from one of the Wilton Yearbooks)

20 people - 8" round
28 people - 10" round
40 people - 12" round
63 people - 14" round

I always remind my friends that this a larger slice of cake and that it could feed up to the following if sliced thinner. (This is the chart that I use for wedding cakes.)

24 people - 8" round
38 people - 10" round
56 people - 12" round
78 people - 14" round

I would check around to find out what to going price for your area is. You don't want to undercharge but then you don't want to charge more than the guy next door.
