I am in Ontario,(small town) and the only place around to purchase supplies is Michael's and the Bulk Barn. However they are often out of what I need or it's quite expensive. My DH is in the U.S. all week and offered to pick me up supplies. Can anyone recommend stores to get cake making supplies at reasonable prices? Your comments would be greatly appreciated. God Bless!

It really depends on where in the US he is. I am originally from AZ and they dont have Hobby Lobby out there, I am in IL now and they do here. There are all kinds of local bakery supply places.

What states does your husband visit? If he is in Oregon, I would recommend the Decorett shop in Tigard. There is also a store called, The Decorette shop, in Portland. I have never been to that one. If your husband will be in Minnisota, pm me and I'll send you the address of the stores I use.

If you can tell me where in Georgia he comes I can help you out. There are quite a few stores, and so depending on location, I can lead him in the right direction. We have quite a few independent cake supply stores, probably our most famous being, Nicholas Lodge with his store in Norcross, which is about 30 min. outside of the city of Atlanta. We also have Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, and Michaels, as well as Garden Ridge which sometimes is hit or miss as far as cake supplies go. Let me know if you have locations, I'll be to help!

Well I just looked online and Hobby Lobby (which is like Michaels only thay had more cake stuff, i thought) is in all the states except NY and PA. If I were you I would go to YellowPages.com and do a search for "cake decorating equipment and supplies" in the cities he visits most.

I just checked the hobby lobby website. AWESOME!! For example gumpaste mix is $3.79 I think and here almost $14. Food colouring $1.19, $4.00 here. I'm so excited!

Keep a look out on the Hobby Lobby website. They have 40%off coupons all the time that you can print out. The last one I used was 40% off ALL Wilton products and there was no limit on how much you could purchase. Boy was my DH upset when he saw the checkbook later that week. icon_redface.gif

Check out this web site www.globalsugarart.com They are in Plattsburg, NY right up there near the boarder. I've never been to the store front, (really don't know if they even have one) but would certainly be worth the call, if he goes anywhere near there. IF not i'm sure they would ship to you but the cost might be up there
