Hello!

I want to make a contemporary tiered cake and the very first tier on top will be about 6-7 inches high. I'm gonna use a 3 inches pan.

How could the fondant not agglomerate on a side or another at the bottom of this narrow cake??

I imagine that will be a tough one...

Any suggestions?

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

Make sure and sit the cake on top of something that is as narrow as it is (or narrower) so the fondant can drape down past the cake. This makes it easier to smooth. Cut off the excess and start smoothing from the top edges. As you work, you kind of smoosh the fondant towards the bottom together, and stretch other parts at the same time. It's kind of hard to explain. I think Satinice has a tutorial, and I think Earlene has one also. I'm sure you'll get some posts from CC'ers that know the links for some of these.
