Ok I looked at the tutoral but my computer pop up blocker will not let me make the thumbnails bigger so, I can't see the smoothing tool! You know the one out of the pop bottle? So can anyone tell me how to make one? I understand what to do with it but I can't see what the shape looks like. Thanks for all the help!
I have tried the Viva Method and didn't like it. The icing would stick to the paper towel. But now I use the MELVIRA METHOD. It works like a charm. Melvira has all of her instructions in the 'articles'. Her method is to use a crusting buttercream recipe for the icing and then smooth it out with dense paint rollers. I tell you, it save an awful lot of time. You should try it.
I use the Viva paper towel method. I'm not sure what the 2 liter is for but you simply smooth with your hand. I use the large flat tip to icing my cake and then lay a paper towel over it and rub my hand along it (after it has crusted) and it smooths out beautifully. I never take a spatula to my cake at all. If you have spaces make sure to smooth them as you rub with the paper towel.
The few times my icing has stuck was because my icing hadn't crusted yet.
