I will be making two cakes for my cousins birthdays at the end of this month.

One will be strawberry shortcake theme and the other one will be a basketball. I am planning on using two sports ball cakes-but that only gives me 20 servings. I need a total of 30. I can not think of any ideas to add to either cake, or even an additional cake what would I do for it?

The strawberry shortcake cake will be strawberry flavored, and the basketball will be marble cake.

Any help or ideas are appreciated =)

I will also be covering these in fondant, however the basket ball needs to be blue and white-any ideas on how to get these colors together on a round cake and be striped?

Put those spheres on a sheet cake........and make half of the cake one theme; the other half of the cake the other theme.

Or you could just have a spare sheet cake made, and keep in the kitchen, like they do at weddings.

Sorry, I can't help with the fondant basketball, maybe someone else can.

Good Luck!

Do a batch of cupcakes, split between the themes, to arrange around the two balls...

I often add cupcakes to make up the rest of the servings!

You could make strawberries out of fondant and put one on each cupcake and you can also make mini matching balls for the other cake.

There is a photo of one in my photo's where i put the writing on the cupcakes.

I was thinking cupcakes too, especially since there will be kids. But i haven't been able to talk my aunt into it yet. She wants cakes. That is where I am getting stuck icon_cry.gif

I may have to consider doing just an extra sheet for them to start serving with-thanks for that suggestion mmdd

A shett cake under the ball, designed like the court? Or, I saw one here with the ball partially in the hoop (lying down)...
