I'm making tres leches cake for cinco de mayo. It's the taekwondo acadamy that my kids go to. Right now there are a little more than 50 people signed up to come (it's a potluck), with more than half being kids. I'm planning on making at least a 12x18. I'm wondering if I should make another 9x13 or even more. The cake itself is not very high, barely 2 inches and I'm serving it in the pan. If I go with 2x2 servings a 12x18 will give me 54, but people will be serving themselves. Did I mention margaritas and shots of Petron are being served? I'm thinking people may help themselves to generous servings.
I made a practice cake and sent to work with dh and everyone loved it, so once a few people taste it I think everyone will want some. Oh, and I'm the only one signed up to bring any kind of dessert.
I guess what I'm asking is besides the one 12x18 should I make another 9x13 or another 12x18? I have read a bunch of posts on serving sizes, but since this is more of a party party I think people may eat more than normal sized servings. What would you do?
I don't know... 12x18 seems like plenty for ~50 people who will be eating prior to dessert. A lot of adults in my area don't "do" dessert (and will obnoxiously announce it to anyone who will listen). Not sure if that's a new trend nationwide, or limited to the self-absorbed nouveau-riche wannabe crowd. These are the same people who go to the health club and work out to stay fit, but will then illegally park in a handicap parking spot at the grocery store so they won't be inconvenienced with having to walk an extra 50 feet. ![]()
Well, anyway, maybe this'll bump your question and someone else can give you a better answer. ![]()
LOL - sooooo not the case in my area. I'll see if anyone else signed up tonight and probably make an extra 9 x 13.
